About the book:

Sophie Apperly has spent her whole life pleasing others – but when she realises her family see her less as indispensable treasure and more as general dogsbody, she decides she’s had enough. So when an old friend offers her the chance of a lifetime, she decides to swap Little England for the Big Apple, and heads off to the land of opportunity.

From the moment Sophie hits the bright lights of Manhattan she’s determined to enjoy every minute of her big adventure. And when fate throws her together with Matilda, a spirited grande dame of New York society who invites her to Connecticut for Thanksgiving, she willingly accepts.English-born Matilda is delighted with her new friend – though her grandson Luke, undeniably attractive but infuriatingly arrogant, is anything but welcoming.

When Luke arrives in England a few weeks later, Sophie hardly expects him to seek her out.But Matilda has hatched some complicated plans of her own – and so Luke has a proposal to make …

Lovely stuff:

This week has been a good one, I am off crutches, out of my boot and will be driving very soon.

For a long while i have wanted a bureau, and now i am in my new house i have space for one.
Today i spotted one on freecycle and have just come back from picking it up!! I have given lots of things on freecycle but this is the first thing i have ever got myself - i love it. It needs a clean and i will be painting it white of course:

I have also recently won two giveaways.

The first from Sew Ray Me :
I love the little bag it all came in, there were also some safety pins and needle (already in use) and a lovely little homemade lavender hanging (that i forgot to photograph, and again, already in use):

And the second is Bee Happys ribbon giveaway:

Isle of Mull

Here is more from our Week on the Isle of Mull in Scotland:

This was my 3rd time to the Island. It is lovely and worth a trip. But for me, 3 times is certainly enough as its such a long way from the South.

We were there for the wedding of my Brother in law. (See earlier post)

Last picture is Lancaster castle (Our stop on the way home)

Isle of Mull wedding

I have been away for a week on the beautiful Island of Mull in Scotland (A family favourite) for the wedding of my Brother in Law to my new Sister in Law.

It was a very rainy week, but the sun shone on the day of the wedding which was lovely.
The bride looked gorgeous in a lovely lace dress with a 50's feel.

More from our week away soon

Vintage by Hemmingway

Saturday was spent with my hubbie at Londons Southbank for the Vintage festival:

I really wanted to go to this event last year at Goodwood but i was on holiday. We decided to only do one day at Southbank, which worked out well because of my broken foot.
This year, the outside events were free and you only had to pay for inside the Festival hall.
The Festival hall was not very wheelchair friendly!! However i would still pay to go next year as it was well worth it and i'm looking forward to being able to have a dance and a good rummage around the stalls.
I haven't been to Goodwood, but can imagine this event would be better there, as the Southbank ended up packed as most of it was free.
The good thing was, that having tickets ment we got to go to the Shopping village an hour before everyone else, the bad thing was, that i couldn't get into most of the shopping bits with the wheelchair.

There was a fairground and a lovely cream tea tent:

Only a few vehicles: (I think Goodwood had lots)

The Cath store:

I was surprised to see the Southend poster i bought a few weeks ago! And another one that i'm going to hunt down:

Watching the boys at the skate park:

There were some great food stalls, again these areas got packed! we were there early when there was plenty of seating:

We took our food and our Pimms to the pretty Cath Kidston tables:

I sat for ages watching couples dancing:

I love a bit of Polyester Fiesta in the 70's area!!!

Because of my foot, i didn't get to do as much shopping as i'd of liked. I did buy a deer badge, that i'm either going to pin somewhere or make into a magnet. Two Cath bags and a Ladybird book. I was given some free Hemmingway cards, we even saw the man himself:

It was a great day out, i'd certainly go again. And i would take my good camera next time as there were some great shots to get of people in their lovely cloths etc.
