Day 19/ 30 things

Day 19

A talent of yours:

I wasn't sure about this..i think my talents are like alot of bloggers, sewing, drawing, mothering etc.
But i wouldn't say i'm hugely talented at anything!! Some of you are so fabulous at what you do.

So i decided to do a couple of quizzes...entitled Whats my talent??

And here are the results:

1.Totally Original.

Sometimes people can't understand you at all... You have your own way to live your life, so your main talent probably would be something arty and creative, like writing, painting or playing music. Some advice? Don't EVER try to follow the others, you are yourself and if you stop being yourself, all your magic will be gone.

2.You have so many talents no career can top that. But just follow your heart and choose your own.No quiz can say what career is best for you.You have way too many talents!I'm sure I'll be seeing your face in the cover of a magazine some day!

Hee hee
Well it passed the time and i guess i have realised that my talent is just that.....i am me, i am original!!!!

Whatever tickles your fancy

Paris:

Mmmmm Paris!!

There is lots that i do not like about Paris.....but i can ignore those things and just enjoy the romance of the city.

My hubby and i have not visited for a while now.....oh how i would love to be there right now.
I am not sure when we will go again as there are so many other places to see.

My favourite thing to do is listen to jazz on the Ill de cite, then stroll over to Ill Saint Louis to buy some bread and cheese and spend a long afternoon down by the river.

The buildings in Paris are stunning, i would love to have an apartment there.

But for now, i have my memories.

Wouldn't it be lovely to wander through Jardin Des Tuileries and take a ride on the carousel?
Come join me in that dream.

Day 15/ 30 things

A Fan fic - is a broadly-defined term for fan labour regarding stories about characters or settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creator.

I am afraid i have no interest in this. So instead i am going to post pictures/quotes relating to the wonder that are books:

The best of a book is not the thought which it contains, but the thought which it suggests; just as the charm of music dwells not in the tones but in the echoes of our hearts.  ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

TV.  If kids are entertained by two letters, imagine the fun they'll have with twenty-six.  Open your child's imagination.  Open a book.  ~Author Unknown
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.  ~Charles W. Eliot

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.  ~Richard Steele, Tatler, 1710

Let books be your dining table,
And you shall be full of delights
Let them be your mattress
And you shall sleep restful nights.
~Author Unknown

A house without books is like a room without windows.  ~Heinrich Mann

Medicine for the soul.  ~Inscription over the door of the Library at Thebes

To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting.  ~Edmund Burke

To read a book for the first time is to make an acquaintance with a new friend; to read it for a second time is to meet an old one.  ~Chinese Saying

Kathleen Kelly: When you read a book as a child, it becomes a part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does.- 'You've got Mail'

Day 14/ 30 things

A non fictional book.

I think i actually prefer non fictional books.

One of my favourites is How to be lovely: The Audrey Hepburn way of life by Melissa Helstern.

(Product description taken from Amazon)

A beloved icon who found success as an actress, mother and humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn perfected the art of gracious living. The Waifish star and muse of Givenchy, Audrey could be quite the sage as well, turning out insightful phrases about working hard, living well and ageing gracefully. Melissa Hellstern has collected a diverse range of bons mots from the star for this gorgeous little book. Enduring the challenges of womanhood - miscarriages, divorce and the balancing act of career and family - Audrey Hepburn exuded dignity and humility through her successes and failures, and women of all ages will find inspiration among these pages. More philosophy than biography, 'How to be Lovely' revisits the many interviews Audrey gave over the years, allowing us to hear her voice directly on universal topics of concern to women the world over: careers, love lives, motherhood and relationships. Enhanced by rarely seen photographs, behind-the-scenes stories and insights from the friends who knew her well, 'How to be Lovely' uncovers the real Audrey, in her own words. Audrey Hepburn perfected the art of gracious living and is an enduring, relevant and inspiring role model for women today.

Day 13/ 30 things

A fictional book

My most recent loved book is A vintage affair by Isabel Wolff

(Taken from Isabel Wolffs site)
In  'A Vintage Affair', the heroine, Phoebe Swift, has just opened a vintage dress shop in Blackheath. At the same time she is coping with the recent loss of her best friend, Emma. So Phoebe takes refuge in her work - restoring these wonderful old clothes to their former glory so that they can go on to have new lives. But what of the past lives these clothes have lived she often wonders? What stories would they tell if they could speak? One day Phoebe meets an elderly French woman, Therese, who wishes to sell her some elegant dresses and suits. In Therese's wardrobe Phoebe also finds a child's sky-blue winter coat, from wartime France. At first Therese wishes not to reveal the coat's history but, as the two women become friends, she opens up. Phoebe listens to the poignant story of the little blue coat not knowing that it is to have a profound and uplifting connection with her own life...

This wonderful book had me hooked from the start.

Romance and vintage clothes.....what more could a girl want?
